6 Reasons Why Anywhr Loves Jetting Off With Mom
Travelling with your mom may on the outset seem like something we only used to do as kids, and once we turned into teens, travelling with mom, or being seen with her, was just uncool. But as I embark on adulthood, I’d do anything for some precious time with my mother, and what better way than to spend quality time with her exploring and venturing through an unknown destination. In fact, having your mom by your side is almost like travelling with a best friend, except with tons of other special benefits.
The Anywhr Team has shared about their best memories of travelling with their moms! We hope what we’ve laid out this Mother’s Day inspires you to ditch your next travel buddy (oops!) for the most special woman in your life.
1. SHE’S MORE TRAVEL-SAVVY THAN YOU REALISE
You know that Mary Poppins purse your mom always carries around and it's stuffed with tissues, snacks, and all kinds of medication? Think about how handy that will be overseas! Plus, if you’re down with stomach flu, she’s right there with her overflowing knowledge of herbal remedies that will do the trick.
Our moms can even surprise us overseas, with their excellent navigation skills without relying on modern day technology. Anywhr Team member Michelle mentions her mother is incredibly street smart, and there’s no need for Google Maps when she’s around.
2. SHE’S THE BEST SENSE OF SECURITY YOU CAN HAVE IN A FOREIGN LAND
When you’re in trouble overseas or feeling homesick, the first person you’d most likely dial back home is mom and vent out your frustrations. That’s exactly what happened when I went on my first solo trip. But when she’s right there beside you, she would be all the comfort you need in a dire situation.
Even something as simple as bringing along fresh sheets and pillow cases every time they’re overseas, Anywhr Team member Summer finds solace in knowing her mom is always there to ensure she’s safe and comfortable.
3. SHE’S YOUR BIGGEST CHEERLEADER
Some moms may not be the best at using the newest technology, or how to take boomerangs and the perfect Instagram shots. I know my mom is not skilled at taking aesthetic travel photos, but she’ll never back down from snapping as many photos of me until I’m satisfied. And she won't complain about it, but instead, share them all over her Facebook – and that’s when you know she loves you.
4. YOU CAN TREAT HER FOR ALL SHE’S GIVEN YOU
If you have the means, this is the best way to treat your mom for all the love she’s showered to you over the years. Take her on a jaunt to a location you both have never been to before, it’ll be a lovely way to show your gratitude to her.
We take the planning off your hands at Anywhr. You can fully customize your trip and recommend tons of activities that mom will enjoy. Be it walking trails, hiking or food, and wine tastings, it’ll be an unforgettable experience. And here’s a bonus, the destination will be a surprise to the both of you!
For instance, Anywhr Travellr Ning had a taste of the experience in Destination X and navigated through black volcanic beaches with her mom, who is a child of the ocean.
5. SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH HER
The time alone overseas also gives you and your mom the best space to confide and share things about yourselves that maybe you wouldn’t back home, with other family members or friends around all the time. Here’s the chance to let her know all about your deepest fears and wildest thoughts!
It’s a liberating and cherished experience to be able to gain a deeper insight, and maybe see another side to your mom that you never knew existed. You could have revelations about your mom and her past that you never knew about, and vice-versa.
6. BACK HOME, YOU AND YOUR MOM WOULD HAVE SHARED MEMORIES TO LOOK BACK ON FOREVER
There’s nothing more special than a mother’s love, and knowing that these experiences are shared exclusively between the two of you will give you endless memories to look back on fondly.
We recommend documenting your travels, for a timeless reminder of special moments in your life. At Anywhr, a personalised Travelogue will be sent to you with Missions that require snapshots of you against unique views!
