Anywhr’s 2020 Travel Leave Cheat Sheet: Singapore Edition
We’re halfway through 2019 as of now, and in a flash, we’ll be transported to 2020. That’s how fast time flies nowadays. So much so that we know you’re dying to figure out your travel dates for next year, wave goodbye to tour packages and say hello to booking a personalised trip Anywhr.
But first, here’s Step 1: figuring out the best way to maximize the long weekends and Public Holidays. Get ready to mark your calendars to score the break(s) you truly deserve!
Mirroring our 2019 Cheat Sheet, we’re presuming that like the average Singaporean worker, you have a standard 14 days of leave.
#1. Apply For Leave: 24 January 2020
Public Holiday: Chinese New Year, 25, 26 & 27 (observed) January 2020
Leave supply: 14 - 1 = 13 days
Travel time: 4 days
The Chinese New Year holidays span the entire weekend in 2020, which gives us Monday off. Take leave on Friday and make it an extended holiday celebration! Since we know about 90% of stores will be closed for the festivities, take the opportunity to book a short trip out of Singapore!
If you’re worried that work might keep you too busy that you won’t have time to plan the perfect vacation (the beginning of the year is always a toughie!), leave the trip planning to us and we’ll make sure it’s so magical that you won’t regret missing out on the pineapple tarts and Mandarin oranges back home.
#2. Apply For Leave: 9 & 13 April 2020
Public Holiday: Good Friday, 10 April 2020
Leave supply: 13 - 2 = 11 days
Travel time: 5 days
Instead of hunting for places to go in Singapore during the Good Friday long weekend, take two days of work leave and sneak off on a Getaway vacation.
Sip on cocktails, take a dip in the pool, lounge in swanky hotels and daydream those worries away. Pro-tip: This only works if your phones are turned off! We don’t need any work-related emails spoiling the ideal 5-day getaway.

#3. Apply For Leave: 4, 5, 6 & 8 May 2020
Public Holiday: Labour Day, 1 May & Vesak Day, 7 May 2020
Leave supply: 11 - 4 = 7 days
Travel time: 10 days (Score!)
If you play your cards right, take 4 days of leave in May as Labour Day lines up perfectly with Vesak day and you’ll get 10 days off!
Call into use your inner culture vulture. Fly out of Asia for a 10-day summer vacation in Europe or North America. We know it’s summer and you’re thinking that everywhere is going to be jam-packed with the tourist crowds, but trust us and travel off the beaten path. Unsure of where exactly to book a trip to? Just let us know your preferences and we’ll specially curate a vacation for you.
Pro-tip: Mother’s Day falls on the 10th of May, you might even want to ditch your travel bud for your mom – it’s the perfect way to show your gratitude.

#4. Apply For Leave: 22 & 26 May 2020
Public Holiday: Hari Raya Puasa, 24 & 25 (observed) May 2020
Leave supply: 7 - 2 = 5 days
Travel time: 5 days
Suffering from a holiday hangover right after that 10-day trip? Hari Raya Puasa falls on a Sunday next year – so that means we’ve got Monday off yet again. Apply for two extra days of work leave because the best remedy for a holiday hangover is to… (you guessed it!) go on another trip.
Here’s a bonus: If you’re aiming for a short getaway in Southeast Asia in May, you’ll beat the school holiday crowds that drive us all a little wild during the month of June. Travelling with Anywhr also ensures destinations are off-the-beaten path, making tourist crowds the least of your worries!
#5. Apply For Leave: 29 & 30 July 2020
Public Holiday: Hari Raya Haji, 31 July 2020
Leave supply: 5 – 2 = 3 days
Travel time: 5 days
We’re reaching the end of the summer peak period so it’s the perfect time to take a solo weekend vacation to an offbeat Asian destination.
While the second half of the year might have already brought about some late nights working overtime in the office – just head over to Anywhr and with a few clicks, you can pass all the hassle of travel planning and booking flights to us. Plus, we equip you with the best places to visit in the destination we send you to, ensuring the trip is everything you’d expect and more - especially if it's your first time travelling solo.

Public Holiday: National Day, 9 & 10 (observed) August 2020
Leave supply: 3 – 2 = 1 day
Travel time: 5 days
Writing this, we realise that 2020 is the year that having Monday Blues no longer applies to us Singaporeans.
National Day leaves us with another Monday as a Public Holiday, and by taking one day off before and after the holidays, we’re left with another long weekend! No complaints here! As Singapore turns 55, go on a 5-day mini Adventure. Scale mountains and see the world from new heights with Anywhr. You could even squeeze in a road trip and drive the work-related troubles away.
#7. Apply For Leave: 24 December 2020
Public Holiday: Christmas Day, 25 December 2020
Leave supply: 1 – 1 = 0 days
Travel time: 4 days… but if you still have more days of leave left over, treat yourself to a week-long vacay on the last week of the year.
Just take 5-days leave on the 24 & 28 – 31 December. This scores you a 9-day holiday. What a way to ring in the New Year of 2021!
We hope we haven’t just ignited your wanderlust but that you actually marked these dates on your calendar, because we’re in for a ride of long weekend trips and Mondays spent abroad in 2020.
Pro-tip: Be the envy of all your colleagues and let us plan these trips just the way you’d like… and we’ll make them the best vacations you’ll ever have Anywhr.
